Pari first day collection: Anushka Sharma starrer fails to encash holiday
Mumbai: After the disappointing box office performance of 'Jab Harry Met Sejal', Anushka pinned hopes on her home production 'Pari'. The film managed to score a total number of Rs 4.21 crore on the day one.
According to Box Office India report, 'Pari' had a poor opening day of around 4 crore net. The horror film started slowly but picked from the afternoon as Holi festivities got over. The 4 crore net opening would have been reasonable if it was a normal day but its a poor performance for a holiday.
Deccan Chronicle critic Rohit Bhatnagar has given a positive review of the film. "Pari: Not a fairytale, has an excellent plot! The captain of the ship, Prosit Roy, not only tells a spine-chilling story with finesse but also impresses with his directorial skills. Few moments such as the interval point will hit you hard. It might be a possibility that you will see most of the film covering your face in fear, courtesy the brilliant background score and the crisp editing. Writers Prosit Roy and Abhishek Banerjee craft a gripping story which will keep you glued till the end," he had said.
‘Pari’ is surely getting some good reviews, but considering its genre, the film will do average over the weekend. 'Pari' is a horror movie and some might call it odd to release such film on Holi. Directed by Prosit Roy, this film also stars Parambrata Chatterjee and Rajat Kapoor.
Another Friday release Pulkit Samrat-Kirti Kharbanda starrer 'Veerey Ki Wedding' fared very poor and opened to around 75-80 lakhs net on its opening day. The collection is similar to last week's 'Welcome to New York' but the costs are much lower than that film.
