Parineeti Chopra and Sidharth Malhotra in a guerrilla set-up
Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra are currently busy working on their upcoming film, Jabariya Jodi. The film tells the story of a man who abducts bridegrooms along with his childhood sweetheart. And though it’s based in Bihar, the makers have been shooting it in Lucknow, in a guerrilla set-up, for the last two months.
Among the locations that the team has shot at, is the hugely-popular Ambedkar Park of UP. Says a source from the unit, “A big sequence requiring an elaborate set-up needed to be shot, and the director was keen on shooting at Ambedkar Park, one of the biggest parks in UP. The team secured permissions overnight and it took them about three days to set up for the actual shoot.”
The source adds, “The director wanted the scene to be showcased in a certain way, which is why he scouted out the area extensively before beginning the shoot. He has shot at some unexplored locations inside the park in an attempt to portray it in a completely different light.
“And since the scene was shot after sunset, he wanted to have the entire park lit up. The team sourced lights to decorate the entire park from the interiors of Lucknow and Mumbai. It was a huge setup and we had limited permissions, so we had to ensure we finished the shoot within the given time.”
Produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shailesh R. Singh, Jabariya Jodi has Siddharth playing a small-town Bihari and Parineeti playing a native of Patna who is heavily influenced by the west.
The makers are hoping to wrap up the Lucknow schedule sometime in November, after which they will shoot portions of the film in Patna.
Going by reports doing the rounds, it looks like director Prashant Singh is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring it turns out to be a full-on entertainer and a treat for the audience.
