Sonakshi Sinha, often termed Shotgun junior, was introduced to Bollywood as Salman Khan’s bold wife in ‘Dabangg’. Salman ensured she got her share of limelight, as he highlighted the actress’ hardwork (in the form of losing weight for a Bollywood film).
Little did Sonakshi know that ‘Dabangg’ would become a franchise and right from her first film, she would be remembered for her ‘seeti-maar’ dialogue ‘Thappad se darr nahi lagta’.
The actress showed her potential and it was no wonder that she bagged films with Akshay Kumar – ‘Rowdy Rathore’ (which gave her introduction as an angry young woman), ‘Joker’ (which is better to be forgotten), a special appearance in the song ‘Go Go Govinda’ with Prabhu Dheva (which showed that she can dance), ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara’ (again like ‘Joker’, better forgotten), ‘Boss’ (the same), ‘Holiday’ (she can play sports too) and even worked with Ajay Devgn in ‘Son Of Sardar’ (which was more in limelight for its clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, the movie which got an upper hand since it was Yash Johar’s last film) and ‘Action Jackson’ (better not to speak about this one). She however ended up being just an eye candy in ‘Bullett Raja’ (with Saif Ali Khan), ‘R… Rajkumar’ (with Shahid Kapoor) and ‘Tevar’ (with Arjun Kapoor).
She then shifted her focus to action films and biopics like ‘Akira’, ‘Force 2’, ‘Noor’ and ‘Ittefaq’. That too hardly worked in her favour.
Meanwhile, Sonakshi even tried her hand at singing like Alia Bhatt did in ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’. She came out with her single (a big achievement and risk for an actress) ‘Ishqholic’ but that career too was short lived. Sonakshi did special appearances in songs like ‘Nachan Farrate’ in Abhishek Bachchan starrer ‘All Is Well’ and soon will be seen in Salman Khan’s ‘Race 3’.
She will appear in the sequel of ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’ which featured Diana Penty, and the actress has been signed for the multi-starrer mega Karan Johar project ‘Kalank’ which also stars Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur in pivotal roles. She has ‘Dabangg 3’ in the pipeline too and honestly, people cannot wait to see her back as the loving wife Rajjo.
Apart from movies, Sonakshi will also be part of Salman Khan’s Da-bangg Tour which will take place in USA and Canada by the end of this month. So it won’t be wrong to say that Sona has interesting projects in the pipeline, through which the actress can show her potential.
