Mumbai: We all got a glimpse of China’s love for Bollywood when Aamir Khan’s film ‘PK’ became the first Indian film to make 100 Cr in the country. Not just that, Deepika’s Hollywood debut ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ worked in China way better than it did in India.
Salman Khan, whose next film ‘Tubelight’ features Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, is gearing up for a mega release in the film’s leading lady’s country China. In an interview with a daily, Kabir Khan, director of the film, said, “Obviously, Salman Khan Films has taken a call to promote their film in a big way in China. Salman is expected to tour key Chinese cities to promote the film. This, despite him having stopped doing city tours to promote films, a while back.”
Kabir feels that China is a market that has huge potential for growth of Indian movies. “China is a huge market. The number of theatres in the country are staggering. Plus, Tubelight does have a Chinese connection, including its leading lady. We are looking at the various possibilities of how to give the film a big release in China,” he added.
Starring superstar Salman Khan, Zhu Zhu and Sohail Khan, ‘Tubelight’ is slated to release on June 25.
