Shahid Kapoor reveals why he felt like marrying Mira again after nearly three years

Actor Shahid Kapoor, along with his wife Mira Rajput, turned showstopper for Anita Dongre’s show at Lakmé Fashion Week 2018. As the much-in-love couple walked down the ramp hand in hand, the sight was no less than a fairy tale scene. But even as they looked calm and too comfortable to care, Mira reveals that she had jitters before showtime.

“I have to be honest, I was hoping to not fall on the ramp. I even told Shahid about my fears. I was nervous because I have seen models and professionals own the ramp with their attitude and poise. But me? I wasn’t sure,” shares Mira.
However, the nervousness wore off pretty soon and she felt secure soon enough.

“Although jittery, I knew I was in safe hands with Anita and her collection. I was extremely excited and nervous. Before we stepped on the ramp, I wished Shahid the best, but it was really me who needed all the luck!” she laughs.

When asked what is his favourite choice of clothes — traditional or Western — for Mira, Shahid replies, “I prefer to see Mira the way she likes to dress, whatever that may be! But I must say, she looks wonderful in the attire she is wearing today.” Even as he is talking, the Padmaavat maharaja is unable to keep his eyes off the missus.

As he finally manages to tear his gaze away from Mira, he says with a smile, “We got married two-and-a-half years ago, but she is looking as beautiful today as she did on that day. Maybe we could have gotten married again today. She looks beautiful!”

Emphasising the need for men to stop dictating women, especially for what to wear, the actor says, “It is tiring for a woman to always worry about what the males around her think about her.” Shahid personally credits the fluidity in his marriage to simple understanding. “You have to accept each other for who you are. That’s how we have been able to make this work, considering how both of us come from very different backgrounds. She likes me for who I am and I like her for what she is,” he explains.

Lastly, when we ask Mira how she liked Shahid’s performance in Padmaavat, she says: “The audience has already judged the movie; it’s beautiful, it is a visual treat. Personally, I think this is one of Shahid’s best performances. It is difficult to play a character when you don’t have the support of many words. But that’s exactly when one’s acting talent really shines through. Shahid has done that with so much ease. I am just so proud of him.”
