Nagarjuna signs rumoured ex Tabu to play mother to his son in film?

Mumbai: Nagarjuna and Tabu set off rumours of their affair after the couple had worked together in several films of the ‘90s.

The rumours were not short-lived and dominated the gossip columns almost throughout that decade.

Their relationship reportedly ended because Nagarjuna refused to commit, but there was no bad blood. Nagarjuna’s son Naga Chaitanya had reportedly stayed in Tabu’s house in Mumbai when he was studying in an acting school and that just shows they continue to remain good friends.

Nagarjuna, in a recent interview, had said, "Our friendship goes way back, since I was 21 or 22 and she was just 16. That's like almost half a lifetime. About our friendship, whatever is said is less. I have nothing to hide about her. When you mention her name, my face lights up. She is a beautiful person, and a beautiful friend. She always will be."

That’s perhaps the reason why he approached Tabu for the role of a mother to his real-life son Akhil Akkineni in a Telugu film he is producing, and the actress has agreed to do it.

"Tabu was approached for the project a few months ago. After going through the script, she immediately gave her nod. Other cast members will be locked by this weekend. One can expect an official announcement within a fortnight. The film will roll next month with a 30-day schedule in Hyderabad," a source told mid-day.

The film could also mark the veteran actress’ return to Tollywood after almost a decade since the release of ‘Pandurangadu.’
