Vishal Bhardwaj;s Osama Bin Laden still alive

After Omkara and Pataakha, Vishal Bhradwaj is all set to adapt The Exile into a film.

For director Vishal Bhardwaj there is no sitting idle. So what if his Pataakha didn’t manage to do well at the box office, the filmmaker is inching closer to adapting another book.

The filmmaker who is known more for his Shakespearean and book adaptations is finally moving after an attenuated hiatus on the book The Exile.

The Exile by Cathy Scott-Clark and Adrian Levy, who have also written books like The Seige on the attacks of 26/11 on Mumbai, excited Vishal so much that he decided to meet them and take the rights of the book.“The book is more about the ideological clashes between Osama Bin Laden and the rest of the AL Qaeda. It is more like a prequel to the 9/11 attacks Zero Dark Thirty that got Vishal hooked. But he got busy with other projects. When Sapna Didi starring Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone could not take off he made Pataakha with lesser-known stars and that did not muster enough footfalls in the theatres. But now he has recently re-registered his title for the film Abbottabad with the producers’ association reiterating his belief in wanting to do the film now,” says a trade source.

Vishal seems to have a thing for terror. He was part of Gulzar’s Maachis and the heart of his own Haider. And now he takes on a fully laden Osama.
