Veteran star Nandamuri Balakrishna, currently riding high on the success of films like Akhanda and Veera Simha Reddy, is reportedly set to make his debut special appearance in a Tamil film with Jailer 2. In what is shaping up to be an exciting collaboration, Balakrishna will share screen space with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, playing a tough, no-nonsense police officer in this action-packed sequel.
A source close to the development confirmed, “It’s true that NBK has said yes to a powerful role in Jailer 2. He loved what director Nelson pitched to him and is looking forward to the shoot. While it’s more of a guest appearance, Balakrishna wanted a solid and impactful role—and Nelson delivered just that. Fans are going to love it.”
In the original Jailer, director Nelson Dilipkumar brought in a stellar lineup of cameo appearances from Kannada star Shivaraj Kumar, Malayalam icon Mohanlal, and Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff. These roles were not only well-received but also added significant mass appeal, contributing to the film's box-office success.
Back then, Nelson had revealed he was keen on casting a Tollywood star—either Megastar Chiranjeevi or Natasimha Balakrishna—for a powerful cameo. He later admitted, “Balakrishna sir was in my mind, but I couldn’t design and fit his character into the script properly. That’s why I dropped it. But if he plays the role I have in mind for Jailer 2, it will be extremely powerful.”
According to sources, Balakrishna will appear in flashback sequences and share impactful scenes with Rajinikanth. He is expected to portray a police officer from Andhra Pradesh, reminiscent of his iconic roles in films like Rowdy Inspector and Lakshmi Narasimha.
With Jailer 2, this marks Balakrishna's first special appearance in a Tamil film, setting the stage for a high-octane, pan-Indian cinematic moment.
