Balakrishna, Chiranjeevi Pay Emotional Tributes to Legendary Singer S. Janaki

Recalling her close association with the Nandamuri family, Balakrishna noted that Janaki had sung numerous timeless songs for the films of his father, the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, as well as several memorable numbers in his own films

The passing of legendary playback singer S. Janaki has plunged the Telugu film industry into mourning, with leading actors Nandamuri Balakrishna and Megastar Chiranjeevi paying heartfelt tributes to the iconic singer whose voice defined generations of Indian cinema.

Expressing his grief, Balakrishna said the news of Janaki Amma's demise had deeply shocked him.

"Janaki Amma entertained millions of music lovers for decades with her melodious voice. Her passing is a huge loss to the entire Indian film industry," he said.

Recalling her close association with the Nandamuri family, Balakrishna noted that Janaki had sung numerous timeless songs for the films of his father, the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, as well as several memorable numbers in his own films.

"Many of the immortal songs she rendered in my father's films and my films will remain evergreen. She has shared a close association with our family for decades," he said.

Praying for her soul, Balakrishna added, "Janaki Amma left an indelible mark on the world of Indian music with her magnificent voice. I extend my deepest condolences to her family, loved ones and millions of admirers. Om Shanti."

Megastar Chiranjeevi also expressed profound sorrow, saying Janaki's demise had touched him deeply.

"Janakamma garu lent her incredible voice to many unforgettable songs throughout my film journey. Her voice gave life to countless emotions we portrayed on screen," he said.

Chiranjeevi recalled that many of the most cherished songs in his career were immortalized by Janaki's magical voice.

"Whenever I listen to those songs, the memories of those beautiful days come alive before my eyes. Janakamma garu was not just a singer but an extraordinary artist who transformed emotions into music. Every song she sang is a memory, an experience and a lifelong bond with listeners."

Describing her as one of the greatest musical legends, Chiranjeevi said that although the industry had lost a towering personality, her voice would continue to inspire generations.

"Today we have lost a giant of Indian music, but her songs will resonate forever and remain the soundtrack of our lives. I convey my deepest condolences to her family, loved ones and millions of music lovers. Janakamma garu, your voice will remain immortal forever. Om Shanti," he said.


Kerala Satheesan, opposition leader Vijayan pay rich tributes to S Janaki


Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan and Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan expressed deep condolences on the passing of veteran playback singer S Janaki.

In his message, Satheesan said he was “deeply saddened” by the loss of the legendary singer known as South India’s Nightingale. The Chief Minister noted that Janaki Amma’s golden voice, soulful renditions, and emotional depth defined the golden era of Malayalam cinema. “Though she has left us, her thousands of timeless melodies will live on forever,” he said, extending heartfelt condolences to her family and millions of fans around the world.

Former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the passing of S. Janaki marked the end of an era in Indian cinema music. Though she belonged to another state, her voice struck a chord with the people of Kerala, finding a special place in every Malayali’s heart.

The opposition leader remarked that every song by Janaki Amma became part of Malayali memories and lives, and her music will continue to resonate for generations.

Janaki Amma lent her voice to all the famous music directors and lyricists Kerala has known. There was a time when she was the leading playback singer for top heroines in Malayalam cinema. She worked with many renowned music directors, including G. Devarajan, Dakshinamoorthy, M. S. Baburaj, M. S. Viswanathan, K. Raghavan, Johnson, Raveendran, and Shyam.

There are countless songs by Janaki Amma that are dear to every Malayali’s heart. Natha Nei Varum, Suryakanthi... Janaki won the State Government Award for Best Female Singer 14 times.
