Baahubali: The Eternal War has earned a major international boost. It has been selected for the Work in Progress sessions at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026, widely regarded as the “Cannes of Animation.”
Prabhas, who played a dual role (as Amarendra and Mahendra) in the duology, expressed his delight on Instagram. “The team is building something truly special. Can’t wait for the world to see it,” he wrote.
The ambitious animated venture has been closely monitored by VFX experts and producer Shobu Yarlagadda. SS Rajamouli was involved in the early stages of writing, but not in an intense way.
The first part of Baahubali: The Eternal War will hit the screens next year (2027). Baahubali: The two-part CG-animated epic serves as a spiritual continuation of the live-action Baahubali films. Like Varanasi, which will span multiple physical and spiritual realms, this one's story will span 14 realms of existence.
