Legendary actor Anupam Kher has once again joined hands with producer Abhishek Agarwal to play a revered leader on the big screen in Hindi film 'The Bengal Files. “Anupam ji is essaying the role of Mahatma Gandhi and has breathed life into it but I can't reveal more at this stage. He is truly an actor par excellence,” says Abhishek Agarwal, who previously worked with the veteran actor in Telugu films like Karthikeya 2 and Tiger Nageswara Rao.
Calling Kher “more than family” and “a great human being,” Abhishek recalls how the actor agreed without hesitation to play the knowledgeable professor in Karthikeya 2, who explains the greatness of Lord Krishna. “I just requested him, and he agreed to do even a small but significant role. His mind-blowing performance gave the character soul, and it was received well across the world,” Abhishek shares.
In Tiger Nageswara Rao, Anupam Kher played a key role befitting his immense talent. “His presence certainly helped as it was a pan-India film, though it didn’t perform as well as expected,” he admits.
Abhishek’s collaboration with Anupam Kher began with his maiden Hindi production, The Kashmir Files, which shattered box office records by grossing over ₹250 crores. “Anupam ji’s powerful portrayal of Pushkar Nath will be etched in people’s minds forever,” he says.
The association continues with The India House, a pan-India Telugu film set in the pre-Independence era. “It’s a love story, and Anupam ji is playing a very interesting role in it,” reveals Abhishek.
