Top IIT Delhi Alumni Award Conferred Upon Acharya Prashant For National Impact

Another year, another brilliant panel of alumni celebrated!

Yes. It’s that time of the year again when the IIT Delhi Alumni Association celebrates the work and achievements of one of India’s most distinguished personalities. In the year 2025, Acharya Prashant has been awarded the Outstanding Contribution to National Development (OCND) award in the unique category of Spiritual and Social Leadership. The Award was presented by Kalpen Shukla, President of the IIT Delhi Alumni Association during a special ceremony at the IIT Delhi’s Seminar Hall on April 26th .

The OCND Award is an honour of excellence given to IIT Delhi Alumni as a mark of recognition of their significant contributions toward national progress. With over 65,000 alumni across the globe, only a handful are selected to be awarded every year. And this shines a spotlight on the exceptional nature of Acharya Prashant’s influence and impact. Together with him, this year’s honorees were awarded for their contribution to academics, research, public administration and social leadership.
The IIT Delhi Alumni Association has a strong focus on nation-building through meaningful contributions to society. By recognising Acharya Prashant under the Spiritual and Social Leadership category, the IIT Delhi Alumni Association is highlighting how important spirituality is to personal growth and inner change and further to making a real difference in society.
A B-Tech graduate from the class of 1999, Acharya Prashant is recognised as the world's most impactful voices in the realm of modern spirituality. His teachings, rooted in Vedanta, have empowered tens of millions of individuals across various sectors to act from a place of inner clarity and stillness. His popularity comes from his ability to effortlessly connect timeless wisdom with today’s complex challenges. Acharya Prashant’s approach discusses spirituality not as a retreat from action, but as a strong foundation for right action.
During a recent interaction with the IIT Delhi community, Acharya Prashant addressed urgent global challenges from the point of view of spiritual clarity. These ranged from artificial intelligence to free speech and environmental degradation to mental health. While emphasising that lasting solutions need more than intellect, he encouraged future leaders to take ethical action and create social impact from a place of inner stillness.
