President Murmu Inaugurates Jagadguru Kripalu University in Odisha
Says education is the foundation of character building and national development; new institution to offer industry-integrated, multidisciplinary programmes.

President Droupadi Murmu on Monday inaugurated Jagadguru Kripalu University at its 100-acre campus in Banara near Cuttack, describing education as the foundation of character building, social transformation and national development.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, and the university's founder and chairman Swami Mukundananda, besides academicians, industry leaders and government officials.
Addressing the gathering, President Murmu said education was “not merely a means of acquiring knowledge; it is the foundation for character building, social transformation and the creation of a prosperous future for the nation.”
Expressing confidence in the institution's future, she said the university would emerge as a centre serving society and the nation by harmoniously integrating India's ancient cultural and spiritual traditions with modern education.
Established under the guidance of Jagadguru Shree Kripaluji Maharaj and founded by Swami Mukundananda, the university is recognised under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act. It aims to combine multidisciplinary education with industry-linked learning, research, innovation and skill development in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The university will initially offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through three constituent schools—the JK Institute of Technology, JK Institute of Management Studies, and JK Institute of Healthcare and Life Science. Courses will cover emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, cybersecurity, cloud computing, fintech, healthcare, applied microbiology, yogic sciences, naturopathy, business management and digital product design.
Speaking on the occasion, Swami Mukundananda said the institution seeks to blend academic excellence with value-based education to prepare students for professional leadership while fostering ethical and holistic development.
Located about 10 km from Cuttack and 20 km from Bhubaneswar, the residential campus is equipped with academic, research, sports and hostel facilities.
