AI Upskilling: New Program Brings Healthcare and Tech Closer

● The 10-week program equips professionals to leverage AI to design preventive healthcare strategies, improve health outcomes, and operational efficiency.

A new 10-week online program is set to help healthcare professionals strengthen their AI capabilities through a curriculum designed by faculty from Johns Hopkins University. The initiative, offered in collaboration with a global edtech company, aims to equip doctors, researchers, biotech and pharma professionals, consultants and policymakers with the skills to apply artificial intelligence across diagnostics, hospital operations, drug discovery and personalised care without requiring any coding knowledge. With the global AI in healthcare market projected to grow at an annual rate of 38.5 percent till 2030, the program is positioned to meet a rapidly expanding industry need.

Paul Huckett, Associate Dean at Johns Hopkins Engineering Executive and Professional Education, said the future of healthcare will depend on how effectively emerging technologies are adopted. He noted that the aim is to develop leaders who can use AI to transform patient care, strengthen health systems and innovate responsibly. Learners are introduced to the fundamentals of AI, machine-learning models, predictive analytics, diagnostic forecasting, and the use of large language models, while also examining ethics, regulations and the human factors that influence adoption. The curriculum also includes modules on epidemiological modelling, common pitfalls in AI implementation and best practices for managing electronic health records.

Blending video lectures with mentored sessions and live masterclasses, the program uses real-world case studies to illustrate how AI can enhance disease prediction, streamline clinical workflows and support personalised care. Professionals who complete the course earn a Certificate of Completion and six Continuing Education Units from Johns Hopkins University, placing them at the forefront of a sector where artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping how healthcare is delivered.
