AP, Telangana Top Performers in CBSE; Girls Outperform Boys Yet Again
Nationwide, the overall pass percentage for Class X was 93.66 per cent, while Class XII stood at 88.39 per cent

Hyderabad: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the Class X and XII results on Tuesday, with Andhra Pradesh and Telangana emerging as the best-performing states across the country. They recorded pass percentages of 99.51 and 99.73 respectively in Class XII. Nationwide, the overall pass percentage for Class X was 93.66 per cent, while Class XII stood at 88.39 per cent.
Girls continued their academic edge across both levels. In Class X, they recorded a pass rate of 95 per cent, comfortably ahead of boys at 92.63 per cent. Transgender students equalled the girls’ performance in Class X. The gender gap was also visible in Class XII, where girls surpassed boys by 5.94 percent.
The trend held strong across Hyderabad as well, with girls dominating top ranks in several schools. At Army Public School, Bolaram, in Class XII, S. Harishwar topped commerce at 99 per cent, Sanu leading humanities with 98.2, and Manleen Kaur scoring 97.6 in Science. Johnson Grammar School, Secunderabad reported 100 per cent results in both exams, with the highest scores at 98 and 91 respectively.
DPS Mahindra Hills celebrated its first Class X batch with 98.2 per cent as the highest, and five girls topping the list. Cal Public School’s topper, Tanvi Kumari, scored 96.8 per cent. Bhashyam Blooms also recorded a top score of 97 per cent by a girl student.
APS Bolaram’s result stood out for consistency and discipline, with 46 students achieving perfect scores in individual subjects. Harishwar, the overall topper, credited his performance to “discipline, determination and daily effort.” Pragayaa Bakshi, who is also the School Captain, said, “If there’s anything you truly want, the biggest obstacle is yourself. Believe, persist, and achieve.”
At Johnson Grammar School, academic director Laxmi Vishwanathan called the results “extraordinary academic achievements,” adding that “students, staff, management and parents are all delighted.” The school hosted a celebration with its top scorers.
Several students shared stories that extended beyond marksheets. Sree Dhruv, a Class X student, said preparation from Class IX made him comfortable with the exam format. He scored 93 percent and plans to pursue Computer Science. Srinika Beraar, who managed a 92.5 per cent while balancing multiple co-curriculars, said missing classes had been manageable thanks to supportive teachers.
“Practising during vacations helped. I want to be an advocate,” she said. Vishesh D., who scored 96 per cent, plans to study aeronautics and become an astronautical engineer. “Setting daily goals and following through without procrastination made the difference,” he explained.
DPS Mahindra Hills, which presented its first Class X batch this year, saw 15 students scoring full marks in subjects like Science and Social Science. Out of 103 students, 32 secured above 90 percent. The top two ranks were taken by identical twins Yalamanchili Sumana and Sunayana, with 98.2 and 97 per cent respectively.
Fifth-ranker Rebba Sudeshna, who scored 96.2 per cent, is also a state-level cricketer. “I have been a probable for the Under-19 team in both T20 and one day formats. Both cricket and academia has been my passion,” said Sudeshna. Teacher Nandita Sunkara described the outcome as “a dream come true” for students and parents alike.
Among Class XII students, Mahaashree Gaddam, who plans to study Computer Science in the US with a $15,000 scholarship from the University of Cincinnati, said her school’s approach helped her discover herself. “Everything was not about studies. We were involved in a lot of activities. I used to study around 2 to 3 hours daily,” she said.
