NEET, JEE coaching centre for SCs to come up in Vizag

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh government will start a new coaching centre for girls belonging to SC communities with an intake of 160 to help them in their preparation of competitive examinations like NEET and JEE at Madhurawada in Visakhapatnam soon. Minister for social welfare Merugu Nagarjuna held a meeting with the B.R. Ambedkar SC Gurukula Vidyalaya district coordinators at Secretariat on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said in the wake of huge demand for setting up coaching centres for NEET and JEE, the state government would set up one more centre in addition to the existing ones at Adavi Thakkellapadu and Chinna Tekuru for SC boys and Edupugallu for SC girls.

Referring to 1,400 Intermediate students failing in a single subject in the state, the minister said that 56 advanced supplementary training centres would be set up to help the students for the advanced supplementary examination and perform well in it. The minister directed the officials to make arrangements to supply text books and notebooks to the students soon after they attend the classes in the new academic year after summer vacation. He said that Gurukula students secured 80.38% in Class X exams and 74.13% in intermediate exams in the state and called for efforts to improve pass percentage of students in the districts where it was less for varied reasons.
