Harish Rao says new medical colleges add to MBBS seats

Hyderabad: Health minister T. Harish Rao said that the state had achieved significant growth in the field of medical education with the establishment of eight medical colleges in the past year and the increase in the number of MBBS and PG seats statewide.

The minister was speaking at the monthly review meeting conducted over video conference. He said, “This year, nine more medical colleges will commence classes with 100 MBBS seats each. With the recent approvals granted to Kamareddy, Khammam, and Komaram Bheem Asifabad medical colleges, the state government is on track to achieve its goal of establishing six more medical colleges”.

Telangana has 7,090 MBBS seats and 2,548 PG seats as compared to the 2014-15 of 2,950 and 1,183 respectively. He said the posts of 1442 new assistant professor will be filled soon.
