WARANGAL: Prof. Thatikonda Ramesh, Vice-Chancellor of Kakatiya University said that the university received 'A Plus' grade recognition by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The VC expressed enormous satisfaction and happiness for the achievement during a news conference conducted on Monday at the senate chamber in the university in Hanamkonda.
The VC stated that this is the first time the university has been accredited as a dual-mode institution, including distance education. The university will profit from securing new projects, expanding overseas collaborations, and developing collaborative research programmes.
Several recent developments at the university contributed to good scores in the assessment process, and the university received an A Plus grade from NAAC by scoring 3.27 on a seven-point scale.
NAAC accreditation encourages higher campus placements with larger pay packages in all faculties of the university, as well as a diverse range of career prospects. It also assists institutions in identifying their shortcomings, strengths, opportunities, and dangers through ongoing evaluation processes, allowing them to improve higher education quality.
For the first time, the School of Distance Learning and Continuing Education (SDLCE) will be granted Autonomy under Category-I and will be able to launch new programmes with the consent of the university's regulatory bodies. Prof. Ramesh thanked Education Minister Sabitha Indira Reddy, Higher Education Department officials Naveen Mittal and Vakati Karuna, and EC members for their encouragement and assistance.
It should be noted that the university previously received a NAAC 'B grade' in 2003 when Prof. Chandrakanth Kokate was Vice-Chancellor, then an A grade under Vice-Chancellor Prof. Gopal Reddy in 2009, just missing an ‘A Plus’ grade, and an A grade under Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sayanna in 2017.
