Hyderabad: Girls outperformed boys at the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) results declared by the Board School Education, Telangana on Wednesday with a 88.53% pass percentage, while 84.68% of boys cleared the exam.
Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy released the class 10 exams results at the Godavari Auditorium, SCERT Complex. The scores can be checked at the official websites – bse.telangana.gov.in or at bseresults.telangana.gov.in.
The state saw a 86.6 per cent pass percentage, where students need to score a minimum of 35 per cent to successfully clear the exams, and 33 per cent marks in each subject. A total of 4,94,504 candidates appeared for the SSC Public Examinations conducted from April 4-11.
Speaking at the press conference, Reddy lauded students for doing well in the exams despite the two paper leaks at the start of the examinations. "Students didn't let the incidents affect their performance and did well even in the following exams. Kudos also to education department officials, police department, principals, teachers and parents for constantly standing by me and my team from the start of the exam until today. They have encouraged students throughout the process and the fruits are for all to see today," she said.
The minister requested students who failed and/or didn't do well in their exams to not be disheartened or take any extreme steps. Her request comes a day after two students in the state died by suicide dejected over their results.
The minister said that the Advanced Supplementary Examinations will be held from June 14- 22, 2023 and the last day to pay the examination fee is May 26, with a late fine of Rs 50 until May 29. Students were also encouraged to apply for recounting or re-verification and asked to refer to the official website for any updates or changes in the examination schedule.
The minister congratulated the 2,793 schools that achieved a 100% pass percentage and said that the 25 schools that recorded a zero pass percentage will be reviewed and necessary steps would be taken later.
Nirmal district recorded the highest pass percentage of 99, followed by Kumram Bheem Asifabad at 98.7%, while Vikarabad district recorded the lowest pass percentage of 59.4%.
