Hyderabad: IT minister K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday released a field guide compiled by nine-year-old student Samhith Chithajallu, titled 'Winged Friends — Birds of Botanical Gardens.'
In his first attempt to publish a book, Samhith catalogued the birds at the Botanical Garden in Kondapur, Hyderabad. The event took place in the presence of law secretary N. Narsing and former law secretary C. Durga, at Pragathi Bhavan on Thursday.
"It all started with us leaving grains and food outside our home and enjoying the sight of many birds (that came to eat it). We then started visiting the Botanical Garden to spot more birds," said Samhith, who added that his favourite bird was the black drongo.
He said his small took one year of research and two months of writing with a little help from his parents who, Samhith said, weren’t avid birders. His family of three visits the park every weekend and when he isn't there, he can would be reading a book, or is busy playing with his dog, his second third favourite animal after birds and tigers.
