World\'s Largest Wardrobe Inaugurated on Founder's Day of Mukarram Jah School

HYDERABAD: On the occasion of the Founder’s Day of Mukarram Jah School on the 90th birth anniversary of Late H.E.H. Walashan Mukarram Jah Bahadur the VIIIth Nizam of Hyderabad, the part of the Museum which has been recently restored and which houses the wardrobe of H.H. Nawab Mir Mahbub Ali Khan Bahadur, the VIth Nizam of Hyderabad, located in the Purani Haveli Palace (H.E.H. Nizam’s Museum), was inaugurated by Mr. A.K. Khan, I.P.S. (Retd.)

The wardrobe of H.H. Nawab Mir Mahbub Ali Khan, the VIth Nizam of Hyderabad (1869-1911) is said to be the world's largest wardrobe. A truly phenomenal exhibit in its own right, two parallel wardrobes, each 176 feet long are made of the finest of the Burma teak and are constructed on two levels.

The Chief Guest for the Founder’s Day Mr. A. K Khan, I.P.S. (Retd.) former Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad and presently the Advisor to Telangana Government for Minority Affair and the Guest of Honor Mr. A. Shyam Mohan, Chairman, Forum for Democracy & Global Peace, Chairman, Emeritus Quality Circle Forum of India and Past President of Hyderabad Management Association, were hosted by the Trustees of Mukarram Jah Trust for Education & Learning Mr. M. A. Faiz Khan and Mr. Faiz Bin Jung. The event was organized by the Secretary Mr. Andiappan Lt. Col. (Retd.), Principal Mrs. Rekha Wadha, Academic Advisor Mrs. Kausar Sayeed and their team.

The Chief guest of the event Mr. A.K Khan being a student of history shared the contribution of Nizams of Hyderabad for the field of education by establishing quality secular university -Osmania university and schools with their recent contribution of Mukarram Jah school. He emphasized on learning many language as mentioned in NEP and advices students to follow 4 habits, first by inculcating habit of writing, second by focusing on intrinsic values which he explained by comparing students with pencils with values like lead within to write their future, third advice was importance of teachers as handlers of teachers and last advice to use the eraser by rubbing accepting and never shy away from starting over again in life.

The Guest of Honor Mr. A. Shyam Mohan appreciated the school for maintaining educational excellence while preserving the culture and heritage of Hyderabad through value system set up in the school. He quoted Gandhiji’s quote of education and explained how well this institution has proved it and set an example of education being the most powerful tool that can change the world.

Addressing the media, the students and their parents during the Founder’s Day celebration organized by the Trust at the Musrath Mahal at Purani Haveli on Friday, Mr. Faiz Khan said that special emphasis is being laid on quality education, upgrading the I.T. infrastructure to be on par with other renounced institutions, development of a sports arena inside the Purani Haveli premises that aims to provide coaching and training facilities for both boys and girls apart from their active participation in NCC.

Mr. Faiz Khan further said that he was proud to inform everyone that the Mukarram Jah School has been rated the No.1 School in India by Education World in the Budget School Category for two consecutive year after being ranked No.2 for three years before that and certainly hopes that we strive to retain our position this year as well.

Late H.E.H. Walashan Mukarram Jah Bahadur the VIIIth Nizam of Hyderabad had given Purani Haveli that consists of 8 Mahals and the Masarath Mahal Palace along with many other properties for the purpose of education and learning and Walashan Mukarram Jah Bahadur was deeply appreciated for having the vision for providing such infrastructure from his own personal property so that education could be imparted to the people of Hyderabad whom he loved and cared for to his very end.

Mr. Faiz Khan expressed satisfaction with regard to academic performance of the students, while congratulating the teachers and also thanked them for playing an vital role not only when it comes to education but also moral training of the young generation and emphasized on how utmost care is to be taken with regard to the mental well-being of students, acquiring 21st century skills, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, civic sense and happiness of our young minds which are exposed to a tremendous amount of competition, peer pressure and uncensored information and misinformation thanks to today's technology. In today's era of information technology and social media, all the necessary things are available at the touch of a finger. However, there is no substitute for teachers' compassion, love, motivation and traditional methods of training.

The Principal, Mrs. Rekha Wadha welcomed the guests and presented the school performance report, while students used their speeches to shower praise on the school and teachers. Certificates and awards were presented to the toppers of the board exam. Apart from senior teachers, teachers responsible for 100% results in various subjects were felicitated. Currently they are more than 3,000 students studying the ICSE syllabus in Mukarram Jah School with well over 200 teachers and staff.
