SSC students can travel free in RTC buses for exams

Vijayawada: Education minister Botsa Satyanarayana has announced that students writing their SSC exams from Monday can travel for free in APSRTC buses for the duration of their exams. They will have to show their hall tickets to the bus conductor while going for their exam centre or returning home.

Addressing media here on Saturday, Satyanarayana said with the advent of summer and rising temperatures, half-day school system will be implemented from Monday across the state. All government, aided and private schools should implement the government order on half-day school system. Action will be taken against those schools who violate these orders, he warned.

The minister said for the first time in the country, arrangements have been made for blind students to write their exams themselves on computers. He advised students to reach their exam centre between 8:45 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. He underlined that “one minute norm” will be implemented under which no one is allowed to enter the premises of the examination centre one minute after 9:30 a.m.

Satyanarayana underlined that only government teachers are being involved in invigilation at the 3,349 examination centres. There will be only 24 students per room. Total 838 squads are being deployed across the state for smooth conduct of examinations, out of which 682 are sitting squads and 156 flying squads.

Sitting squads will be deployed at schools that DEOs have identified as problematic.
