Dense Fog Disrupts Flight Operations in North India
The cancelled services include Air India Express flight IX1284/IX1274 operating on the Delhi–Ayodhya–Delhi sector, and SpiceJet flight SG615/SG614 scheduled on the Mumbai–Ayodhya–Ahmedabad route

Ayodhya: Two scheduled commercial flights were cancelled at Maharishi Valmiki International Airport on Sunday, according to officials at the Ayodhya unit of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The cancelled services include Air India Express flight IX1284/IX1274 operating on the Delhi–Ayodhya–Delhi sector, and SpiceJet flight SG615/SG614 scheduled on the Mumbai–Ayodhya–Ahmedabad route.
The cancellations come amid persistent dense fog in the region, which has significantly reduced visibility and led to the implementation of low-visibility operational procedures at the airport. Similar advisories have been issued over the past few days as fog continues to impact northern India.
Meanwhile, four flights were cancelled at Srinagar Airport, including three flights to and from Amritsar and Delhi, due to adverse weather conditions in those cities.
The Airports Authority of India issued an advisory on Sunday warning that foggy conditions in parts of northern India are affecting visibility and may lead to delays or changes in flight operations at select airports.
Passengers have been advised to check flight updates with their respective airlines through official channels and to allow extra time for travel to airports and completion of necessary formalities.
“Fog conditions in parts of Northern India are affecting visibility and may lead to delays or changes in flight operations at select airports. Passengers are advised to check flight updates with their airlines through official channels and allow extra time for airport travel and formalities,” the AAI advisory said.
To assist travellers during adverse weather conditions, AAI has deployed passenger assistance teams at affected airports to provide guidance and on-ground support.
“The Airports Authority of India has deployed passenger assistance teams at affected airports to provide on-ground support. Passenger safety and convenience remain our highest priority,” AAI said in a post on X.
AAI also shared customer support contact numbers of major airlines to help passengers access real-time information on flight status. IndiGo passengers can contact 0124-4973838, Air India at 011-69329333, SpiceJet at +91 (0)124 4983410 and +91 (0)124 7101600, and Air India Express at +91 124 443 5600 and +91 124 693 5600.
IndiGo also issued a travel advisory warning passengers of possible flight disruptions due to early-morning fog expected across Delhi and several parts of northern India.
The airline said reduced visibility during the early hours could impact flight operations, potentially leading to delays or schedule changes.
In a statement, IndiGo said its operations teams will remain fully prepared through the night and will closely monitor weather conditions on a minute-by-minute basis to minimise inconvenience to passengers. The airline also thanked travellers for their patience during seasonal weather disruptions.
“Early-morning fog is expected to affect visibility across Delhi and parts of northern India. During these hours, visibility can suddenly reduce, impacting flight operations,” the advisory said, adding that passenger safety remains its top priority.
IndiGo advised travellers to check the latest flight status before heading to the airport through its official link. Passengers whose flights are affected can rebook or request refunds via the airline’s website.
Reiterating its commitment to keeping passengers informed, the airline said it will remain vigilant to ensure smooth travel despite challenging weather conditions and thanked passengers for their understanding.
Dense fog is common in northern India during winter and often disrupts air, rail, and road transport. Earlier on Saturday, 66 arrival and departure flights were cancelled at Indira Gandhi International Airport due to low visibility.
On the same day, Delhi Airport issued a passenger advisory stating that low-visibility procedures were underway, although all flight operations were functioning normally.
