Krishna water line bursts at Nagole
Hyderabad: A major pipeline carrying Krishna waters burst at Nagole Cross-roads near Supraja Hospital at around 6 pm on Thursday. For around two hours drinking water went down the drain as Water Board staffers did not reach the spot.
The pipeline is a 1,000 mm PSC distribution pipeline ferrying water from the Autonagar reservoir to Uppal. The staff is yet to find out whether the pipeline has sprung a leak or has suffered a major crack. There will be no water supply on January 29 to Uppal, Chaitanyapuri, Nagole, Maruthinagar and parts of L.B. Nagar due to the pipe burst.
The incident happened during working hours. The Nagole junction witnesses traffic jams throughout the day. Due to the pipeline burst the jam extended to many kilometres.
The pipeline burst at 6 pm and the flow was brought under control after two hours. The water entered commercial establishments and nearby houses. The water was being pumped from Autonagar to Uppal.
Shop owners at Nagole crossroads had a harrowing time following the breach of the drinking water pipeline. The people who suffered the most were commuters who got stuck at the junction.
Nobody was hurt in the incident. This is the third such incident in the city in three months.
A pipeline of the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Phase-II burst at Balapur crossroads in Chandrayangutta and another drinking water pipeline burst at Madhu-ranagar at a time when the city is facing a serious water shortage.
