Karnataka to act tough against terrorism: HM Dr G Parameshwar
Bengaluru: Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwar has said that the state government will not allow terror outfits like ISIS operate in the state and the police will maintain extra vigil.
Mr Parameshwar told media persons here on Thursday that the state police was informed by the National Investigating Agency (NIA) before taking into custody six suspected terrorists in the state. According to NIA, all the six were involved in terrorist activities in the state, he added.
“We will take action against suspected terrorist group after seeking assistance from NIA. After the arrest of suspected terrorists, NIA will not share any information with us, but they will ask for information from our police and we are ready to share any information with NIA,” Mr Parameshwar said.
“We will not allow terrorists to use Karnataka for their nefarious activities. Necessary directions had been issued to the top police officials to curb terrorist activities in the state. Our police department is capable to handle the situation,” he said.
Following arrest of six suspected terrorists, the police keep close tabs on groups involved in such activities.
The state government has made request to religious heads to raise awareness among the youth, who are prone to involve in such anti-national activities, Mr Parameshwar said in a reply to question.
The State government has suspended jail superintendent for allowing item songs in Vijayapura jail as par of Republic Day celebrations, the Minister said.
