Hyderabad:Candidates contesting the GHMC polls have got access to around 55 per cent of the 78.43 lakh registered voters’ mobile phone numbers in Hyderabad and are sending automatic messages to them. For example, messages like ‘Dear voter I B. Pavithra contesting as corporator from DIV-2 Dr A.S. Rao Nagar from BSP Plz kindly cast your vote for Elephant on 02-Feb-16' is being sent’ to all Kapra voters.
Messages are also coming from TRS, TD and the Congress seeking votes. However, residents are unaware how their phone numbers have been accessed.
GHMC women contestants hold darbar
The second praja darbar was held at the Women General ward No. 134 of Alwal division which is witnessing a contest between Soujanya, daughter of a TD leader and Vijayashanthi, the daughter-in-law of sitting MLA Kanaka Reddy of the TRS. Ms Raja Rajeshwari representing the Congress and independent candidate senior citizen Sujata Reddy also took part.
The participants applauded the frankness of the candidates. Senior citizen Sujata Reddy, a housewife, outperformed the other candidates who rolled out statistics about the division. The candidate promised that senior citizens would get a reading room and would be accommodated in ward committees.
