Don't resort to extreme steps: M Karunanidhi
Chennai: Making an earnest appeal to students to not resort to the extreme step of committing suicides, DMK president M. Karunanidhi on Thursday wondered why the state government has not come forward to hold a judicial probe into the suicides of three girl students of a yoga and naturopathy college in Villupuram.
Referring to students suicides recorded in the state in the last week and related stats made public by union HRD minister Smriti Irani in Parliament, Karunanidhi, in a statement, said, “Do not shatter the confidence reposed by your family members in you. Dear students, not only your country, but your parents, and siblings trust and believe you. Do not forget your family, tell me your grievances and continue with your studies.”
“Ensure that there are no more news of students committing suicide in Tamil Nadu, this is my humble appeal,” he said, also urging the farmers to avoid suicidal tendencies considering the future of their families.
