38 children rescued from factory labour in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Police on Thursday rescued 36 children below 14 years working at manufacturing units across the city.
As many as 18 children working in a burkha making unit and mechanic shops and other places were rescued. The kids belonged to Hyderabad, West Bengal, Delhi, Maharashtra and Bihar.
Police raided a burkha making unit and bike mechanic shops and other commercial establishments in Nagabowli area under the limits of Rein Bazaar Police station.
“All are below 14 years. Among them, eight are from West Bengal, one each from Bihar, Maharashtra and Delhi and seven are from Hyderabad,” said Rein Bazar inspector G. Ramesh.
The parents of Hyderabad kids were summoned and were let off along with their children after counselling. The children from other states were handed over to the child welfare department.
Meanwhile, 21 other city children were rescued from Santoshnagar, Bhavani Nagar and Kanchanbagh areas.
“They were employed in hotels, mechanic shops and other commercial establishments. Their parents have been counselled and have been asked to send the children to schools,” said Santoshnagar ACP Srinivas.
Police would continue raids at different industrial and commercial establishments as part of Operation Muskaan.
