26-yr-old Cameroon national with fake passport held
Chennai: A 26-year-old Cameroon national, with a fake passport, was arrested at the airport while he was heading to board an Air India flight to Colombo on Wednesday evening. Sources said he was flagged during the immigration check at the airport.Identified as Claussen, (26), he was deported by mid-2014 after he forged documents while applying for student visa extension with ministry of external affairs in 2013. His passport was blacklisted and barred from entering India.
Once deported, Claussen used his younger brother’s passport and fabricated it. With that passport, Claussen managed to obtain a student visa and landed in India. He went back to Koramangala in Bengaluru, where he was staying before when he arrived in 2012.
Post terror strikes of 2013 and 2014, movement of foreign nationals is closely monitored in Bengaluru. His pattern seemed that he was keen on getting back to Bengaluru and that his travel plans are to go to Colombo. As a cautionary measure, information on his detention was passed on to the Central agencies including the IB and RAW.
Sleuths from those agencies questioned him to reason with his interest to get back to India. Officials from the State’s Q-Branch also interrogated Claussen who was later handed over to the City Police. He was subsequently produced before a magistrate who remanded Claussen to judicial custody.
Sources indicated that Central and state agencies would seek custody through city police for custodial interrogation. This may shed more light on his past and current agenda here.
