Villupuram suicide: Anbumani Ramadoss seeks CBI probe
Didn't give approval for college'

Chennai: PMK’s chief ministerial candidate Dr Anbumani Ramadoss on Wednesday sought CBI inquiry into the controversial SVS Medical College of Yoga and Naturopathy in Villupuram, where three girl students allegedly committed suicide, to ascertain who gave approval for the college. He also clarified he did not sign any files pertaining to the college when he was union health and family welfare minister during the UPA government.
“I did not give approval for the college which is responsible for the girl students suicide. I did not sign files pertaining to the college. I seek CBI enquiry into the issue to know what really happened” he said in a statement.
His statement came in the wake of DMDK chief Vijayakanth alleging without naming Anbumani that a person from Tamil Nadu was Union health minister when the college got its approval.
Anbumani said that to start a naturopathy medical college, they should get a essentiality certificate and affiliation from the state health department and Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University. “Since it is said that the college was opened in 2008, it was DMK government that should have issued the certificates,” he alleged.
