Guntur: ANU observes bandh over Rohith's death

The ANU officials cancelled all exams which were scheduled for the day.

GUNTUR: The students observed bandh in Acharya Nagarjuna University by locking the main gates, protesting against the death of University of Hyderabad research scholar Rohith Vemula and seeking action against UoH officials.

Various student’s unions called for universities bandh under which students JAC conducting ANU bandh and demanding resignation of union ministers B. Dattatreya and Smriti Irani. The ANU officials cancelled all exams which were scheduled for the day.

The leaders of PDSO, NDSF, research scholar’s association, ANU SC/ST employees’ union and other unions closed the ANU main gate. The teaching and non-teaching staff of the ANU tried to attend their duties but the agitating students did not allow them.

They raised slogans demanding dismissal of UoH Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P. Appa Rao and resignations of union minsters Ms. Irani and Mr Dattatreya holding them responsible for the death of Rohith.

NDSF ANU president P. Gopalakrishna objected to the non-responsive behaviour of CMs of AP and Telangana states and BJP politicising the issue.
