K T Rama Rao: Retire' Opposition leaders, so we can work

He was in his elements during his road shows on Tuesday as part of the TRS campaign for the GHMC polls

Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj minister K.T. Rama Rao was in his elements during his road shows on Tuesday as part of the TRS campaign for the GHMC polls, targeting a few select groups and communities. He urged TS advocates to fulfil the desire of leaders of the TD-BJP combine and Congress who have been stating they will quit politics if TRS wins over 100 divisions in the GHMC polls.

“Every Opposition leader is now saying that he will quit active politics if TRS gets over 100 seats. Why don’t you (advocates) fulfil this desire by electing TRS in 100 divisions? They will all retire from politics and sit viewing TV while the government will be able to concentrate on development works,” Mr Rama Rao sarcastically said.

At a road show in Nagole, he said, “All these years you voted for Congress, BJP, TD and Majlis in GHMC polls. In return they spoilt the city. Now you give us one chance to rule, we will show the results.” At a meeting in Amberpet, he wondered why the BJP has failed to bring any financial package from the Centre which had announced packages worth several thousands of crores to various other states.

Addressing flat owners near Madhapur, the IT minister reminded them of the demolitions that took place last year in Ayyappa Society and said, “When our government tried to demolish a few illegal flats, there was a hue and cry, but I am asking you is there any single incident of our government doing any harm to people of Seemandhra origin in the past 19 months? We will not discriminate against anyone on caste and regional lines. If AP is now progressing, it is because of bifurcation. Had there been no bifurcation, there wouldn’t be any development in AP.”
