Coimabtore Corporation repairs drinking water pipeline in Kavundampalayam
COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore corporation workers have repaired the damaged water pipeline, which supplied sewage-laced drinking water in Kavundampalayam.
The sewage water was mixed with drinking water due to damage in pipeline at Subammal layout First Street in ward no. 8 at Kavundampalayam. The drinking water supplied in the area was black in colour and smelled foul.
In its issue dated 22 January, the DC carried a detailed report on the plight of the residents of Subammal layout and the poor quality of water supplied in the area.
Some of the residents who drank the contaminated water fell ill. Those who used the water for bathing developed skin rashes. The DC highlighted these problems and drew the corporation officials' attention.
Finally, the corporation workers have now repaired the damaged drinking water pipeline, which was buried inside sewage line in Subammal layout in Kavundampalayam.
"The residents of the area are thankful to the DC for the timely report and the corporation's immediate action,” said J. Gopal, a resident Subammal layout.
