Secunderabad cantonment board V-P issued showcause notice
Hyderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment president Brig. Ajai Singh Negi has issued a showcause notice to board vice-president S. Keshava Reddy asking why action should not be taken against him.
“It is noticed that you have either yourself or through family members carried out unauthorised construction in violation of Cantonment Act, 2006, and have also encroached upon government land in three cases,” the notice read.
He was also accused of abusing SCB officials. Asked about the notice, the V-P told this newspaper, “If they have to send me any notice it should come from the ministry of defence. If the SCB President needs any proof, I am ready to furnish all documents regarding all the cases but not in response to a notice.”
The notice cited three instances of alleged encroachment at H.No. 101 Tarbund Bazaar, civil area; construction on 40 per cent park area, Sanjeevaiah Nagar CHS and Survey number 75, Chinna Thokata, Secunderabad.
It also stated that during sealing of SV Mess, Temple Rock Enclave, on February 10, 2015, and prevention of unauthorised construction of Pakwaan Hotel, Tadbund, on December 11, 2015, “the V-P has indulged in objectionable behaviour of abusing the officials... The V-P has intimidated and prevented the staff from discharging their duties.”
The Cantonment Act says, the Centre can remove a member of the board who had himself done or aided or abetted encroachments and illegal construction on defence land.
