Usher in meaningful change: Isro scientist
Chennai: The director of Isro’s microwave remote sensing satellite programme, N. Valarmathi, on Wednesday urged engineering graduates to bring a meaningful change that helps all.
Delivering the chief guest address at Anna University’s 36th convocation here, she said technological advancement has just improved efficiency, instead of actual infrastructure level advancement and improvement of life.
She urged graduates not to just think about technological improvements, but wonder about science that drives technology.
Innovation and technology should coexist and innovation should never be supplemented by technology, she said.
Pro-Chancellor and Minister for Higher Education P. Palaniappan said that in Tamil Nadu, higher education enrollment ratio increased to 44.8% against the national average of 23.6%. It is mainly because of the 54 new colleges which were started by the State government, he said. Governor K. Rosaiah gave away the awards and degrees to the students.

Ph.D. scholars had qualified to receive their degrees. Totally, 1,91,152 students received their degrees. 1,288 ph.D. scholars and 74 first rank holders received their degrees in person and remaining students received their degrees in absentia.
