THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday said government order - 313/2015 issued in connection with the teachers package will be made applicable for the current financial year.
The decision was taken by Cabinet following a meeting with stake holders. The High Court had stayed the order and directed the government to revise it.
Earlier, the order was only applicable to 2014-15. By making it applicable for the current financial year, many teachers would be able to avail the benefits of the package.
He said many teachers could not get their salaries during hte past couple of years in the absence of approval for the package and fixation.
However, the government will go in for appeal against the High Court order. All future steps would be taken subject to the decision on the appeal. However, the appeal will in no affect the staff adversely.
“We discussed the issue with the concerned people. They placed two demands; first to extend the order to 2015-16 and ensure teachers don't face problems because of the appeal.We have accepted both," the chief minister said.
