Mumbai to test radio cab service run by LGBT community members
Mumbai: The LGBT community has often been marred by society’s norms and parochial dogmas, chastised for their lifestyle and choices. However, time and again members of this community have taken to steps that have not only consolidated their stature in the long run but also their identity as citizens of this country.
Tuning in to a similar attempt, Mumbai’s Humsafar trust in association with Wings Travels launched city's first LGBT radio cab service under the name of ‘Wings Rainbow’ on Wednesday. The cab service will be run by members of the LGBT community.
According to the tenets of the initiative, the community members will be given driving lessons such that they can take up driving as a full-fledged profession and will also help them to garner driving license.
The initiative will surely enable the members of the community to fend for themselves and also ensure their well being in the long run.
