IFR: Show Aadhaar and get free pass
Visakhapatnam: Show your Aadhar card and get a free pass to watch various events of Indian Navy’s prestigious, – International Fleet Review (IFR), from the Beach Road. Plans are afoot by the district administration to issue free passes to the general public to view the events. While some of the events of the IFR have restricted entry, some are allowed for public view.
These passes will be issued at all the Mee Seva centres from the next week onwards. Around 1 lakh passes are being readied. Public can watch Operations Demonstration (Op Demo) and International City Parade, which are the highlights of the IFR at the Beach Road on Feb. 7.
During Op Demo, several warships, submarines and aircrafts, including marine commandos, would present an action-packed display of the three dimensional capabilities of the Indian Navy. “We are working out other modalities and also having final estimates on how many people can be accommodated on the Beach Road. Accordingly, we will issue passes through all Mee Seva centres,” district collector, Dr N Yuvaraj said. The President of India, reviewing the International Fleet of ships standing in columns, on Feb. 6, can also be viewed by the public from the Beach Road.
The International Fleet, comprises over 75 frontline ships and submarines. The Review Anchorage would have an awe inspiring combination of Naval Warships from Indian Navy as well as frontline Navies from across the globe. In addition, the ships of the Indian Coast Guard and Mercantile Marine would participate.
