Government forms panel to review security at defence bases
New Delhi: The government has set up a committee to review security at defence bases in the country.
The committee will visit "important" bases and give its report on the basis of its sensitivity and assets.
"We have asked the persons commanding the bases to do an assessment of their bases and further ensure that all weaknesses are gone. We have also formed a specific team that will visit the bases and give its report based on the sensitivity, assets and risk factor," Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said.
Asked about the nature of the team, he refused to divulge details but said a notification in this regard should be out in two to four days.
This year has witnessed a major terror attack on the strategic Air Force base in Punjab's Pathankot.
