Chandrabose murder case verdict today

Out of the 111 prosecution witnesses, 22 were examined and one witness, the defendant's wife Amal, turned hostile.

Thrissur: The District Additional Sessions Court will pronounce the verdict in the sensational Chandrabose murder case on Wednesday.

Prosecution lawyers said a hearing would be held before the court delivered its sentence, if the accused, Mohammed Nisham, was found guilty.

Special public prosecutor C. P. Udayabhanu and defense counsel B Raman Pillai will present their arguments before Judge K. P. Sudhir.

The case was transferred to the additional sessions court from Kunnamkulam Judicial First Class Magistrate (JFCM) on May 13, 2015, and the trial began on October 26.

Out of the 111 prosecution witnesses, 22 were examined and one witness, the defendant's wife Amal, turned hostile.

The court has initiated legal action against her for perjury for deviating from her statement under CrPC 164 recorded before the magistrate in February.

Some 65 documentary and 24 material evidence, including the Hummer that allegedly rammed on the victim in the wee hours on January 29, were presented before the trial court while the defense counsel presented 57 documents and examined four witnesses.

The prosecution argued that it was heinous murder while the defence tried to make it an accident.
