Infosys founder and his wife to donate Rs 40 crore to Kidwai Institute of Oncology
Bengaluru: Infosys founder N.R. Narayan Murthy and his wife Sudha Murty have come forward to donate Rs 40 crore to build another Dharamshala Block at the KIDWAI institute of Oncology.
Ms Murty, who was at Kidwai for the foundation stone laying ceremony of a new operation theatre block worth Rs 8 crore at the existing Dharmashala Block, said, “I am always there for any kind of help for the institution. The goal is to serve the needy and poor. Their treatment and care is important. With proper care, we can provide a good life to people suffering from cancer.”
Dr Linge Gowda, Director of the institute, said, “The existing block requires renovation, and the complex, which has ground plus one floor, requires around Rs 2 crore. Ms Murty has agreed to fund the work.”
“Our aim is to make this institute the number one in the country for its care and treatment. In about ten months, five more operation theatres and a fully equipped complex for cancer care will be completed. All this is becoming reality due to support from people like Ms Sudha Murty. She has also agreed to help the institution build a new Dharmashala Block. She says she is willing to donate Rs 40 crore plus,” he said.
