Deal with Jaipur firm for power
Hyderabad: Telangana Transco and power utilities on Monday signed power purchase agreements with NTPC-Ramagundam and Singareni Collieries, Jaipur, to purchase 1,600 MW and 1,200 MW respectively. The MoUs are aimed to meet peak power demand during summer.
The Singareni power is expected to be ready by March-April 2016. The agreements were signed by the three companies in the presence of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at his camp office in Begumpet. Transco chairman and managing director D. Prabhakar Rao inked the agreements on behalf of his company.
NTPC general manager C.V. Anand and Singareni Collieries chairman and managing director N. Sridhar signed on behalf of their respective firms. The power purchase cost from NTPC will be based on tariff approved by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission.
In the case of power supplied by Singareni Collieries, the tariff would be as per the approvals made by the TS State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
