Centre will issue orders soon on on local status of employees
Hyderabad: The Centre will issue orders by the end of January on the AP state government’s request on local status of employees. The Union home ministry has cleared the file on local status and sent it to the law department.
The issue assumes importance in the backdrop of AP employees being asked to shift from Hyderabad to Vijayawada by June 2.
The employees have told the government that their children would lose local status unless the law is amended.
The AP government had sent a proposal to the Centre seeking two amendments to the Presidential Order relating to education and employment tensure the justice to the families that migrate to AP from Telangana.
If the amendments are passed, the persons who migrate to any part of AP from any part of Telangana within three years from the appointed day, June 2, 2014, will be deemed to have local status in AP for the purpose of admissions in educational institutions and employment.
AP chief secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao told this newspaper that the government had received communication from the Centre that the Union home ministry had cleared the file.
