5 of family die in Kurnool accident
ANANTAPUR: Bodies of the five members of a Keralite family killed in a road mishap in Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh on Monday will be brought to their native village Badiyadukka in Kasaragod district on Tuesday.
P.D. Robins, 35, his wife Bismol, 30, parents Devasia, 64, and Thresia, 60, and four-month old son Ivan died on the spot when the car in which they were travelling hit a culvert on NH-44 in the wee hours on Monday. Driver K Pavan Kumar also died on the spot.
Dhone deputy superintendent of police P Baba Fakruddin said Robin’s family was running a school at Maktal in Mahaboob Nagar district in Telangana state for the past 15 years.
The family was returning to Maktal after performing the baptism of Ivan at Adivaram in Kottayam district, the native village of Bismol. “The driver was at the wheel without sleep for long and was unable to control the steering,” Mr Fakruddin said.
Local residents rushed the spot and tried to rescue the passengers after informing the police and calling ambulance services. The bodies were later shifted to Kurnool general hospital for post mortem.
