Kochi Metro ready for test run today
KOCHI: The Kochi Metro coaches will be shifted to the test trial track at the Muttom yard on Monday following the completion of technical safety tests.
"Technical safety tests of the coaches were completed on Sunday. The coach will be shifted to the test track on Monday. However, it would be run only if the Safety Commissioner gives approval for the same. We expect it tomorrow as his inspection is already over. Some more minor works are pending for the test ride in the yard. They are being completed on a war footing," said sources.
A technical team of officials of the Delhi Metro Rail Limited (DMRC) and coach manufacturing company Alstom will test the running condition of the newly-brought and assembled coaches on real conditions on Monday ahead of the official trial run in the yard on January 23 which will be flagged off by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
The trial run will be held on the 1.25 kilometer track inside the Muttom yard.
The test run on Monday is to make an assessment of the coaches in terms of actual running condition that includes functioning of power devices, announcement systems, air-condition, mechanical systems and third traction, among others.
The initial trial run on the actual track will be from Muttom to Pathadippalam. Later this will be extended to Edappally.
