Ghulam Ali soothes his fans in Kozhikode

A warm welcome was accorded to the singer at Karipur airport in the morning.

KOZHIKODE: As expected, he came, sang and conquered. Kozhikode was completely at the feet of his mellow voice at the venue in Swapna Nagari here on Sunday evening.

The Pakistan-born singer of the Patiala gharana, Ghulam Ali soothed the audience with his ever green ghazals such as “Chupke Chupke raat din”, “Paara Paara hua”, “Faasle aise bhi honge” among others.

The 75-year old Ghulam Ali’s mastery over classical music made it easy for listeners to understand the meaning of each and every verse being sung and the packed audience was in awe.

A warm welcome was accorded to the singer at Karipur airport in the morning. Prominent citizenry and the members of the organizing committee accompanied him to Kadavu Resort where he is staying during the visit.

Before the song, the maestro of Hindustani music was honoured by eminent personalities including Jnanpith laureate M.T Vasudevan Nair.

Interestingly, the Pakistani singer did not hesitate to light the traditional lamp after MT, inaugurating the event.
