Apathy kills one more on road
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An unidentified elderly man hit by a VSSC bus at Pazhavangadi laid unattended on the main road for over half an hour before succumbing to excessive loss of blood at Medical College Hospital on Sunday.
He was living on the pavement on East Fort and was crossing the road at 10.20 am towards Putharikandam where Kalolsavam preparation was progressing.
To escape from a car that sped past him, he moved backwards before coming under the rear wheels of the bus.
With crushed legs, he laid bleeding near a police control room van there until a police ambulance took him to the hospital. Doctors could not do an emergency surgery or amputation as he had very low blood pressure.
He died in the Ortho ICU by 12.30 pm. The body is in mortuary awaiting relatives.
Around two dozen people have lost their life at East Fort, a transit point where hundreds of buses and thousands of travelers arrive, but jaywalking not restricted with barricades.
