Sankranti festivities give Telugu Desam campaign opportunity in Andhra Pradesh
Guntur: The campaign for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation election has shifted to Andhra Pradesh.
With lakhs of Seemandhra residents of Hyderabad visiting their homes for the extended Sankranti weekend, the TD high command asked party leaders and activists to welcome them and seek their support in the February 2 GHMC elections.
According to TD sources, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed TD leaders to accord a warm welcome to the people and ask them to vote for the TD to protect the rights of Seemandhra people.
With this, TD cadres are visiting the houses of Hyderabad-based locals in Guntur, Mangalagiri, Narsaraopet, Tenali, Chilakaluripeta, Macharla and other areas.
TD also met Andhraites from the 29 villages of the Amaravati capital region on the occasion of Makar Sankranti on Friday and Kunuma on Saturday.
According to reports, nearly 40,000 people belonging to Guntur district live in Hyderabad.
D. Seshu, P. Sravan and others of Hyderabad who came for Sankranti said they were greeted by TD leaders who sought their support for party candidates in the GHMC elections.
According to them, the TD leaders credited all the development in Hyderabad to Mr Naidu, and claimed only he could safeguard their interests.
