Raipur: Doctor denies admission in govt hospital, suggests to visit black magician

A case registered against medical officer for denying admission of patients in the local government.

Raipur: A medical officer in a Chhattisgarh district has been accused of promoting superstition by suggesting the patients to visit a witchcraft practitioner for their treatment, police said on Saturday.

A case has been registered against the block medical officer (BMO) N.K. Pandey in the Basantpur police station in north Chhattisgarh district of Balarampur for denying admission of patients in the local government hospital and asking them to visit a black magician for their treatment.

“Locals filed an FIR against the BMO alleging that he has stopped them from getting admission in the government hospital and directing them to visit the black magician. We are probing the matter”, in-charge of Bastantpur police station O.P.Thakur said.

According to the FIR, costly medical equipment of the hospital have either disappeared or remained unused for a long time owing to the alleged move by the BMO.

“We got reports on the BMO’s alleged unwarranted activity. We have launched an independent inquiry into it. Appropriate action will be taken against him if he is found guilty,” Balarampur chief district medical officer K. Trivedy said about the official.
