Tamil Nadu: Engineering admission date will be out next week

Meet to finalise number of applications to be printed.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions committee (TNEA) called for a coordination meet next week to decide the engineering admission schedule, including the dates for single window counselling for BE and B.Tech courses.
The number of applications to be printed this year for sale, its price and distribution dates are to be finalised in the meeting.

Even though it is an election year there won’t be any significant changes in the schedule, committee sources said.

After the meeting, details of the engineering colleges across the state will be collected and issued as a booklet with the application, they added.

Every year around two lakh applications are being sold. According to last year's statistics, there are 1.78 seats available for single window counselling, which will be held during June and July. Applications will be distributed in April and May.

J Indumathi, TNEA secretary who took charge recently, will be the main official conducting the engineering counselling this year, sources told Deccan Chronicle.
Apart from her, all the officials in the committee were part of the committee that conducted the counselling in the previous year.
For the last 9 years, Professor V Rhymend Uthariaraj, who was TNEA secretary and director of Ramanujan Computing Centre, conducted the counselling.
After completing the third term he was shifted and posted as professor of the department of Information Science and Technology (IST) and also given additional charge as the Head of the Department of Media sciences.
The TN government appointed Indumathi, an associate professor in the department of IST, as secretary of the TNEA. She was also posted as director (incharge) of Ramanujan Computing Centre.
